On February 7th, Good Shepherd Convent proudly commemorated its 136th Anniversary, celebrating a day of reflection, pride, and unity, a day ahead of the official date to bring the school community together. As one Shepherdian family, we embraced the shared spirit of gratitude for the legacy we have built over the years.
The day began with a prayer service, where the entire school gathered in prayer for the continued success and growth of our beloved school. Following the service, the School Flag was raised, symbolizing 136 years of unwavering excellence. The School Anthem, our Song of Praise, was sung with heartfelt enthusiasm, a true reflection of our unity and pride.
The School Head Girl delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the significance of this milestone and reminding all present of the values our school instills—nurturing not only intellect but also character, preparing students for a life of purpose.
The Holy Mass, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Rasika Perera of the National Seminary of Ampitiya, enriched the spirit of the day, imparting a profound sense of purpose.
Following the Mass, Sr. Sudarika Fernando, the Principal of Good Shepherd Convent, Kandy addressed the gathering, sharing her heartfelt reflections on the school’s legacy and offering her vision for the future. Her words were a powerful reminder of the values that continue to guide our school.
The celebrations concluded with an engaging programme, featuring dance, song, and a quiz competition that deepened the students' connection to the school’s rich history and traditions.
