Crowning of Our Lady 2025

"Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb."- Luke 1:42

The month of May holds special significance for Catholics as a time to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary. On the 30th of May 2025, the Shepherdian family gathered in reverence to celebrate the Crowning of Our Lady, continuing a cherished school tradition.

The celebration began with a solemn procession led by the School Western Band, as the chariot of Our Lady — beautifully adorned in blue and white — was carried through the school premises. A prayer service followed at St. Mary Euphrasia Hall, where the ceremonial crowning of Mother Mary took place.

A special message and blessing were delivered by Rev. Fr. Shehan Thulakshana, Assistant Parish Priest of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Katugastota. His words encouraged all present to deepen their trust in Mary’s intercession and follow her example of faith and humility.

The day was marked by the recitation of the Holy Rosary and the Litany, uniting the school community in prayer and reflection. It was a moment of grace and devotion, honouring our Heavenly Mother as Queen of our school and our hearts.
