Children’s Day Celebrations 2025 – “The Joy of Being a Child”

On the 1st of October 2025, Good Shepherd Convent, Kandy joyfully celebrated Children’s Day 2025, recognizing the irreplaceable presence of children and their importance in the school and society.

The day commenced with a Holy Mass, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Harshana Miranda, who reflected on the words of Jesus: “Let the children come to me… for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” The Mass served as a meaningful reminder of the need to value, nurture, and protect every child, while also encouraging all to embrace the simplicity, faith, and openness that childhood represents.

Following the Mass, students enjoyed a variety of engaging and joyful activities. The school grounds were transformed into interactive zones designed to celebrate creativity, learning, and play. The celebration reflected the energy, imagination, and unique spirit of every child, creating a memorable experience for all.

In addition to celebrating children, the school also took the opportunity to honour Elders’ Day, observed on the same date. Students were reminded of the importance of showing gratitude and respect to elders, and of the wisdom and guidance they offer.
