“Roopa Mathra,” the Media Day organized by the Media Unit of Good Shepherd Convent, Kandy for the year 2024 was held on the 12th of September 2024. It was indeed a celebration of creativity as it featured a series of engaging activities that showcased the talents of students.

Mrs. Mayuri Liyanage, a distinguished media professional and the former Assistant Manager of Programming at Radio Lakhanda, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and shared her insights from her extensive experience in the field of media.

Rev. Madugalle Pagnasagara Thero, Assistant Educational Director for Social Sciences, a special invitee, also addressed the gathering with his message that focused on the critical role of education in fostering wisdom and the importance of media literacy in today’s society.

The day was enriched by different items that included a skit on “The Revolution of Human Communication”, News Presentations, lively performances of segments from “Amba Yaluwo”, a famous Sri Lankan teledrama, and “Dostara Honda Hitha”, a celebrated cartoon. This was followed by a workshop conducted by the Chief Guest, on media production, content creation and the evolving role in humanity in media production.
