The Shepherdian Family gathered to celebrate the Holy Eucharist, in commemoration of the Feast Day of the Foundress of the Good Shepherd Congregation St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier, giving thanks to her blessed life, on the 26th of Aprill 2024. She dedicated herself to uplift the lives of girls and women. Her special concern was towards the lost the and marginalized. Her feast day celebration, every year is a constant reminder and guide to those who wish to serve others in a profound way.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Sudath Perera, who was welcomed by the school on the same day as the newly appointed Parish Priest of St. Anthony’s Cathedral, Kandy. The meaningful message delivered by Reverend Father reminded everyone of the importance of leading a life dedicated to the Devine Shepherd’s Calling.
The mass was also offered in loving memory of Rev. Sr. Joseph Deegan, the last Irish Principal of the school, who now rests in the loving arms of Jesus. She was remembered fondly for her exemplary life that magnified the beloved name of the Good Shepherd with unfailing faithfulness and unconditional love.
Students then reflected on the life of Saint Mary Euphrasia Pelletier through a video, reminding them of the life and work of the Mother Foundress, inspiring them to serve others in the same way.
