The Annual Carol Service of Good Shepherd Convent, Kandy, “Blessed is the Fruit of Thy Womb”, was held on the 8th of December 2023 at 5:00 pm in St. Mary Euphrasia’s Hall. The Christmas Message and Blessing was by His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Valence Mendis, the Bishop of Kandy. It was indeed an experience filled with the joy of the Season of Advent.

As the 8th of December marks an important day in the Liturgical Calendar, the Commemoration of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Our Blessed Mother, the play written by Mrs. Rita Jayatilleke, revolved around Mother Mary, who said YES to God’s plan that paved the way to the salvation of humanity. The play was brought to life by the impactful acting of the talented Shepherdians, and the harmonious singing of the Senior Choir, trained by the Choir Master, Mr. Nelson George. The lively ballet performance of the Creation Story and the melodious singing of the Primary Choir enriched the presentation, adding colour and grandeur to the evening.
